Helen D. wonders:
I feed my two parrotlets a mixture of Roudybush pellets and Volkman’s Parrotlet Seed mix.
Only one will eat both.
The other one will not eat the pellets.
I’ve tried pellet/seed Avi-Cakes from the vet, but they did not like them.
The one who eats the pellets LOVES them.
I also give them millet once in a while as a treat.
My question is this. Are they missing something more I should be giving them?
We do give them people veggies also, i.e. peppers and broccoli, lettuce, parsley, walnuts.
Their ages are 5 and 2 years old.
Thanks in advance.
Enjoy your column.
Thank you for the kind words, Helen,
The one not eating pellets may be missing out on nutrition only pellets can singularly deliver because of their engineered nature.
I advocate introducing: Avi-Era Bird Vitamins by Lafebers 1.25 oz (36 G)
Before you order some new pellets, try drizzling some apple juice over the pellets in the reluctant parrotlet’s food dish.
You never know.
